When employees make mistakes or fall short of expectations, it can be tempting to resort to disciplinary measures. However, coaching employees is often a more effective and positive approach to improving performance.

Here are a few reasons why coaching is more effective than discipline:

  1. It promotes growth: Coaching focuses on helping employees learn and develop, while discipline focuses on punishing them for their mistakes. When you coach an employee, you help them identify areas for improvement and work with them to develop strategies to overcome challenges.

  2. It builds trust: Coaching is a collaborative process that involves working together to find solutions. When employees feel supported and valued, they are more likely to trust their manager and feel motivated to improve.

Of course, there may be times when discipline is necessary, such as in cases of serious misconduct. But as a general rule, coaching should be the first approach taken to address performance issues. Ego is a term that is often associated with negative traits such as pride and selfishness. However, ego can also be a helpful tool in achieving success and happiness. Here are a few ways that ego can be beneficial:

  1. Motivation: Ego can be a powerful motivator. When we have a strong sense of self-esteem, we are more likely to pursue our goals and take risks. Ego can push us to strive for excellence and to achieve our full potential.
